Open Research tools: OSF and Protocols.io

Open Science Framework (OSF) and Protocols.io are both open research management tools designed to support research projects, enable collaboration, and facilitate open research.

Supporting open research practices

Pre-registration of research plans and open sharing of protocols enhance the transparency, rigour, and reproducibility of research. OSF and Protocols.io enable the early sharing of these (less conventionally acknowledged) research outputs and acknowledge their importance in ensuring rigour and fostering transparency in the research process.

By engaging with these tools, researchers can embed open research practices into their work, and enhance the way they plan, collect, analyse, and share their outputs throughout the research lifecycle.

Institutional membership for these tools has been established for University of Manchester staff and students, enabling access to premium features and technical support.
